September 22 - Barron/Polk Clean Energy Bus Tour

October 3 and 4 - 2008 Wisconsin Solar Tour

Sat. October 4 - The Solar Tour is being held in Western WI. Jim and Jan Erdman of Menomonie will be on the tour. They invite you to come to their home between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to learn more about all the energy efficient innovations they are using. Hopefully, it will be a sunny day so we can enjoy some of Jan's great cookies from her solar oven.

Sunday, Oct. 12 - CROP Walk. Register at UCC at 1:00. You can walk, rock, or bike. Money raised goes to our local food pantry and various other charities of your choice.

Tuesday, Oct. 28, 7:00 p.m. at UCC Church - Our next monthly speaker will be Luisa Gerasimo from Bubbling Springs Solar. They are local providers of thermal solar.


Sustainable Dunn is presently involved in or supports the following activities happening in Dunn County.

- Supports the Northwest Wisconsin Regional Food Network.  NWRFN supports local growers and tries to enhance and expand their local markets.
- Several people from Sustainable Dunn meet regularly with the Mayor, Dennis Kropp along with the City Administrator, Public Works director and City Council Members. There will be upcoming articles on “green” accomplishments for Dunn County News. There is discussion about Menomonie adopting the Mayor’s Climate Agreement. Click on these links for copies of Mayor's Climate Change Agreement and practical document on how to implement this from the Sierra Club called Cool Cities.

- Dunn County Visioning Natural Group - Sustainable Dunn is involved in the whole process.

- Member of Sustainable Dunn are involved with the County Bike Committee that is looking comprehensive bike and pedestrian routes in Dunn County.

- We applaud the local LEED certified buildings under construction at the new fire station and at Fairmount Minerals.

- Supports buying food locally at such places as Farmer's Markets and the Menomonie Market

- Sustainable Dunn is supporting the Tainter/Menomin Lake Association support of a phosphorous free fertilizer bill under consideration by the Wisconsin Legislature.

- Encourages people to be involved in hunger issues and projects such as Bread for the World 

-  Supports UW Stout's Green Sense group that is planning programs during Earth Week on April 19 (Parent’s Weekend) and April   22. Look for more detailed information.

- Sustainable Dunn has committed to organize quarterly education programs on various topics.

- Working with the Menomonie School District to provide an in-service on environmental issues.

- Speakers are available to talk about The Natural Step for communities to various community groups.

- A monthly article dealing with environmental issues is published in the Dunn County News.
